Flying objects

Last Wednesday, as we were looking at the Portimao skydivers and Alvor flamingos, Antje wondered what the collective word for a group of flamingos was. I remembered "a murmuration of starlings" but couldn´t help with the flamingos. Later on, I looked at a list of collectives and found some traditional ones "such as "a murder of crows" as well as some modern whimsies, such as " an absence of waiters" and "an actually of pedants" (which I am sure will appeal to Paulo a Pe); but nothing on flamingos. Then, on another site, which had "a trip of mushrooms" (which will appeal to Antje), finally I found it - "a stand of flamingos."

  1. Good research John. Inspired by your efforts, I discovered 'A Pledge of WASPS'. Significant, and only just coming to terms with the implications of the title of this blog!
(The capitalization is mine, and it was only intended as the acronym in the title, and not the more common US one) QV Mad Magazine Pledge of Allegiance is due 1971
